Debbie Ballin Producer - Biography

Debbie Ballin graduated from The Northern Media School in 1996 where she studied documentary production. She then worked as a freelancer in the production sector and produced and directed a number of independent documentaries. In 1999 she began working at Sheffield Independent Film where she was responsible for new talent development, running The Skill a new talent production scheme.
In 2002 she took up the post of Head of Production at Intermedia Film & Video, where she was responsible for developing new production opportunities and overseeing a number of in house schemes such as the UK Film Councils DV Shorts Scheme, First Cut for Carlton Television. .She currently works as a freelance producer for Broadway Productions where she has just completed ‘Teenland’ for BBC 4.

In addition she also runs Sheffield based company Pussycat Productions Ltd. In 2005 she received a BAFTA nomination for ‘Knitting A Love Song’ and is currently developing a feature with its director Annie Watson.
